Nox
Bleary, dark already hour,
Slumber calls with gentle power,
Ushers in - with anxious calls
Of missed arrangements - anxious calls
To be wrapped up in warm embraces
Unite with unfamiliar faces
Gorgeous and dementing world:
Where naive hopes and wants unfurl.
Unfurl again, unfurl again,
And etherise me, dull my pain,
I see you through my eyes aflame,
And do not hope to turn again.
And turn again, turn again,
Anaesthetise the woken flame
With little time for little pain-
What is this
Where am I now
Out into the tarried night;
Where stars I see don’t seem to be
Light years away but merely feet.
If only blackness was as sweet
As the day I soak into
My skin like morning dew.
Alas, the bitter calm of dark
Ignites my instinct; with a spark
A paranoia seeps right through
My skin like morning dew.
Omnes una manet nox.
And I’m the only one who sees.
Answers on a paradox,
Yes, it frightens me.
